My Background
Prior to my current role as Assistant Professor of Marketing at Gallaudet University, I spent two decades in the corporate sector, including roles at Thomson West (part of Thomson Reuters), BCD WorldTravel, and American Express. Starting in finance before transitioning into marketing, I eventually moved into private consulting after the 2009 financial crisis to advise businesses on engaging the disability market.
As someone born profoundly deaf who navigates both the majority non-disabled culture and Deaf culture, I bring firsthand insight into the structural and informal accessibility challenges of the corporate world. I mentor many of my deaf and hard-of-hearing students through these exact challenges as they enter the workforce. This ongoing advisory role gives me a unique, real-time perspective on the evolving expectations of the modern, inclusive talent pipeline — insight that directly informs my corporate consulting.
In both my advisory work and my classroom, I reject pure theory in favor of immediate, real-world application. Whether I am breaking down weekly market shifts for my students or developing a data-driven strategy for a client, my focus is always on translating current events into actionable, strategic business intelligence.
